I agree, but despite never being a New Yorker and still reading NYTimes every day I always forget that it is a New York City paper first. And because of it, I really shouldn't be surprised that part of their outlook is going to be focused on the elite circles available in NYC.
The work culture here in SF, in my experience anyway, is not at all like the article describes.
